Electrospinner Design

This design (right) represents the first two years of my research career. The nanofibers I was able to create (above) helped me to win the Goldwater Scholarship. Electrospinning works by passing a polymer solution through a charged nozzle. The electrical forces stretch the jet into a nanofiber, which can then be collected and used. The video above shows the initial formation of the nanofiber jet at the tip of the nozzle.

DaVinci Aerial Screw

As part of a senior level machine design class, I used Autodesk Inventor to design and model a futuristic model of Leonardo DaVinci's famed aerial screw design. An isometric drawing of the design (left) and a video of a simulated flight (above) are included.
